Letters to Olga: 29

$120.00

A series of 30 collages based on the book Letters to Olga by Vaclav Havel. The book is comprised of the letters he sent to his wife during Havel’s imprisonment by the former Czechoslovakian government. In these letters Havel has to slip his message past the censors who monitored him and still reveal to his wife that the ideals he was imprisoned for had only become clearer to him, and that all costs he would not allow himself to hate his captors. These collages are ellipses of buried language and the unsayable.

6 × 8 inches on wood panel.
